Meet Michael Day, M.D.

Topics:

Michael Day, M.D., cardiologist and Chair of the Pediatric Partners’ Service Excellence Committee

Michael Day’s decision to join Pediatric Partners was based on his belief in the innovation of a clinically integrated network exclusively for children. “It is exciting to be a part of one of the first pediatric integrated networks and an accountable care organization that has a large and well-regarded system like Children’s Health behind it,” Day said.

When the time came for Pediatric Partners to form its Service Excellence Committee, Dr. Day immediately offered his leadership skills and his passion for the topic.

“I chose to take on a leadership role because it allows me the opportunity to offer my support to the other pediatric specialists in North Texas,” Dr. Day said.  “An excellent patient experience is a high priority for me and my team. Also, if I am going to be involved in something, I like to be an active participant and offer my support any way that I can.”

Dr. Day grew up in Arlington. After graduating from Lamar High School, he attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned a degree in biology.

After college Michael returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at Brown University and Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. Michael then completed his cardiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. During his training he served as chief resident and earned the Haffenrefer Award as the outstanding pediatric resident. During his fellowship, he was honored with the fellow teaching award and was selected as chief fellow.

Dr. Day is board certified in pediatric cardiology. He has presented research papers at national meetings and contributed to a number of publications. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Texas Medical Association. His clinical interests include fetal echocardiography, young athletes and lipid disorders.

Dr. Day practices cardiology at Pediatric Heart Specialists in Dallas.

Dr. Day and his wife, Lynne, have four young boys: Charlie, Joey, Sam and William. He and his family are all big sports fans, and Dr. Day is an avid golfer. Dr. Day and his wife are both active in their church and in their children’s schools.
